THE CHALLENGE

Creating a Travel Platform Around Custom Booking Requirements

kindtraveler is a travel platform built around the idea of making travel a force for positive impact. Its digital experience required more than a conventional Drupal commerce implementation, particularly around its custom checkout and travel-booking requirements.

The platform also needed to communicate with Sabre for booking and pricing information, integrate Stripe into the customized checkout, and support donation-related functionality connected to the organization’s social-impact mission.

Building Custom Travel Commerce Around Existing Systems

After analyzing the requirements, we have evaluated Drupal Commerce before moving toward a more customized architecture that could better support the platform’s long-term direction.

Custom Drupal routes and modules were developed for checkout, while Node.js endpoints connected the platform with Sabre. Donation functionality was structured through Drupal taxonomy, allowing administrators to create donation types that users could select during the experience.
