THE CHALLENGE

Modernized a Complex Learning Ecosystem Without Losing Existing Data

InSafe Hands needed to move its safety education and training experience from a legacy system into a more structured digital learning environment. The transition involved more than moving courses, existing learner certificates, historical statistics, company credits, and learning content all needed to be carried forward.

The new platform also had to support different organizations, branches, learners, managers, editors, and university-level users within one ecosystem. As the platform evolved, the administration experience became another challenge, with fragmented navigation, irrelevant dashboard sections, and raw Drupal administration controls making frequent tasks harder for administrators to manage.

OUR APPROACH

Rebuilt the Learning Experience Around Real-World Training Workflows

We have implemented an Opigno-based LMS on Drupal and progressively evolved it around the way In Safe Hands delivers workplace safety education. The project combined platform development, legacy data migration, custom enterprise functionality, UX redesign, and infrastructure planning.

Rather than treating the LMS as a standard course platform, we structured it around the client’s organizational hierarchy and operational workflows. Company managers could purchase and allocate credits, learners could access interactive training, and different administrative roles could manage their respective areas of the platform.

  • Legacy data migration
  • Role-based LMS architecture
  • Enterprise credit management
  • Interactive learning development
  • UX and navigation modernization

THE TECHNOLOGY

Extended Drupal Into a Full-Scale Enterprise Learning Ecosystem

The platform was built on Drupal and Opigno and extended with custom modules and integrations to support the client’s specialized learning and organizational requirements. Its AWS-based infrastructure provided a foundation for regional deployments and the scale required by a growing learner ecosystem.

  • Drupal + Opigno
Core CMS and learning management platform, extended with custom Drupal development.
  • H5P + Groups + Private Message
Interactive learning, organizational structures, and in-platform communication.
  • AWS + Nginx + Cloudflare
Scalable hosting, web infrastructure, security, and regional deployment support.
