THE CHALLENGE

Managing a High-Volume Platform Without Disruption

An Eventful Life had thousands of articles, videos, and event results that needed to move from Drupal 9 to Drupal 10 without data loss or prolonged downtime. The migration also involved updating custom modules and themes while addressing deprecated PHP methods and search performance issues caused by large database queries.

At the same time, the platform needed to move payment processing from PayPal and Stripe to Chargebee and introduce a new Reel purchasing model. The new experience required Video ownership to control Reel purchases, while also supporting product-specific coupons and new checkout logic.

OUR APPROACH

Modernized the Platform Around Its Existing Ecosystem

We approached the modernization without disrupting the platform’s active user base. The migration focused on upgrading the CMS, replacing deprecated code, improving search and caching, and moving the hosting environment while maintaining the existing content and media workflows.

For the new purchasing experience, we reworked the Chargebee and Drupal integration around catalog-based products, coupon targeting, ownership validation, and purchase-specific experiences for Video, Reel, and Video + Reel.
